Just announced about an hour ago; Circuit City announced its closing of all of their remaining 567 locations nationwide. Another 30,000 people unemployed within this recession (depression, to me) is something I can't stand seeing. Circuit City is now liquidating its remaining stores after failing to secure a buyer to help the company refinance. This, coupled with economic woes, has brought the company to this path.
"This is the only possible path for our company," Circuit City's acting Chief Executive James A. Marcum said in a statement. "We are extremely disappointed by this outcome."
So, needless to say, Circuit City is now done. The only other thing I can say about the company is that, starting tomorrow, all 567 stores will begin a liquidation sale. I would suggest getting the extended manufacturers' warranties if you intend on buying a major electronic device. I completely intend on purchasing an HDTV from them once the prices get lower. And I will be following my own advice about the warranty, too.

My friends and I were talking about this today. Looks like we are gonna be making weekend runs to our local stores untill the end. Great Blog ...Peace
ReplyDeleteMy husband works for Circuit. What really is irritating all of us is. The fact that people have the nerv and audacity to come into the stores and bitch about a lousy 10% off or try to get better deals. They are even treating the employees like total and utter shit. If people would have Shopped their before then none of this would be happening. Sorry to see the better company go!
ReplyDeleteI see your plight. When I first posted this I didn't fully understand the scope at local levels. I went to my local Circuit City and people were bitching and moaning everywhere in the store about the prices. I sure wasn't. I saved on what I purchased. I shopped at Circuit City for years. I don't care too much for Best Buy. I also agree that it is the better company, and I'm sad to see it go.
ReplyDeleteAll they did was jack the prices and out a sale on it.. not really a deal..
